HOTEL LANCELOT

HOTEL LANCELOT

A place of warmth and beauty
By the Colosseum in Rome
Offering rooms for travelers
Treating them like they were at home

Every room is cared for
Every guest a friend
Breakfast is a blessing
After a good night in

Dinner is superb
Faris is a genius with food
Presenting meals created
As an act of art

Joyous conversation
At meals and in the lounge
The brightness of the Lancelot
Blesses and warms each heart

I’ve found a new home in Rome
Where I love to stay
They treat you like a friend
I feel welcome at the Lancelot

BREAD OF LIFE

BREAD OF LIFE

Jesus is the bread of life
No hunger in Him
All the things I need to do
Power from Christ is true

He will willingly help me
On my journey of life
Whatever I need
Christ has the power to meet

If I need courage
I come to Christ
He will develop
Strength in me that is true

The Bread of Life
Is abundance for me
He has won the victory
And says I can be His

All of us have points of view
They will not stop Christ
From helping you
In spite of your view

The Bread of Life enables me
To come to God and see
The work He needs from me
I serve Christ and you

CHRIST CAN HELP YOU

CHRIST CAN HELP YOU

The ocean
White chopped and bare
Looks deserted
Lots of things there

Down below the surface
Is where its business is
Fish and things in motion
The ocean is big

People are like that
Two beings at once
An outer shell of presence
A deeper inner self

I can’t see the stuff you do
But I know there is much in you
The deeper things are issues
Only Christ can help you

TRAVELING GRACE

TRAVELING GRACE

Leaving days are hard
Difficult to go
All the things I’ve learned
Especially the “how to”

The mind and heart rejoice
In the change of pace
Wish we could return
And live with “traveling grace”

So much to see and do
And all of was new
Even all the aches and pains
Contributed to my gain

Seldom felt the weight I left
Reveled in our discussions
Enjoyed the rest
Life was renewed

I wonder can if I can keep
This “traveling grace”
Looking at the world
With caring ease

It is a choice I can make
A decision I can choose
To look at life with joy
And live with “traveling grace”

ROMA

ROMA

Streets with holes
Busses and cars
Motorbikes buzzing
When crossing streets

Hard to know when to cross
Just close your eyes
And walk

I’ve seen so much
And enjoyed it all
Now I’m looking forward
To the money and time
When I can do Rome again

We say the Pope
And all the stuff
In the Vatican Museum
All I can say is wow

These people with me
Are the best part
Of all I’ve done and seen

The way they’ve laughed
And prayed with me
Has blessed my heart and mind

Thank you group
For what you’ve done
Roma was such a good time

Carla “Contessa de Guide”

Carla, you have blessed us
As you have shown us Rome
We owe you admiration and respect
Thank you for helping us see Rome

We’ve grown with you teaching
Our hearts are filled with thoughts
We wanted to tell you
That you have blessed our souls

Insightful and skilled
At leading groups through history
And through the Roman hills

To think and grow wise

Equipped to discuss your Rome

Ostia Antica

OSTIA ANTICA

Ostia Antica brown and frayed
Occupied by leaders
Who ruled their day

Bread and goods for the Empire
Sold and stored
Building great wealth

Now it’s gone
No names we know
Deserted and all alone

There is a lesson
We can learn
Buildings aren’t people
Wealth can ruin

When people count
And are put first
Wealth is stored
In a place without rust

Jesus calls us to be
His hands and feet
Telling His story
To all that we meet

Caring for the hurting
Bending our knee
To the needs of people
Christ will set them free

TREVI

TREVI

Trevi Fountain is bustling
People everywhere
Water spouting
Coins abound

I want to come back
To Rome one day
Walk its streets
And the Forum Way

Wonderful food
Kind, happy folk
A place of beauty
History of note

My history is here
Paul spoke to me
Shared the Gospel
That journeyed to me

I’m glad I’m here
I’m sorry to go
I look forward
To coming again

A WEEK IN ROME

A WEEK IN ROME

A week in Rome
A long way from home
Reached across the years
To bring me closer to Christ

It helped me see
Sacrificial lives
Living for Jesus
Speaking to me

I will not forget
The things I’ve seen
The history I’ve learned
The places that testify to Thee

Titular churches
Aqueducts and roads
Buildings that stand
Spoke to me

I am not alone
History is long
Jesus is the same
Yesterday, today and tomorrow

I also saw what pagans think
They ignore Jesus’ name
Even though they can see
They live enslaved and bound
