BIBLE STUDY PROFESSOR Dr. William Warren, Professor of NT and Greek will be leading our Bible studies. Important Information
Passport must be on your person at all times. Make sure that you have more than six months left on your passport at the end of the trip. Pack light because our in country flight from Thessaloniki to Athens will limit the amount you may carry on to 10kg (22 lbs.) and the weight for checked luggage to 20kg (44 lbs.). If you are over this weight the fee is very high. Bring a sturdy duffle in your checked bag to expand your carrying capability to haul home souvenirs. Be sure to have rain gear, good walking shoes (plus an extra pair) and some warm and light clothes. The days may be warm, chilly, cold or hot. Bring the medications that you will need. If you have allergies you will need your meds. Pepto Bismol (tablets) morning and evening really helps keep your stomach feeling good. REMIND EVERYONE WE ARE SEVEN HOURS AHEAD-8PM USA IS 3AM WHEREVER WE ARE IN GREECE I have a bag strap for you, see me. Margie will have bag straps for our Atlanta group. Do not lock your bags because they are checked by inspectors. Put a bag strap to protect them from breaking open. If you have any question, please call or e-mail me at clay@lifesongs.com . I will be glad to answer. The days will be exciting, memorable, long and exhausting, and it will be the greatest trip you have ever taken. Bring $250 to $300 in cash. ATM’s are available. Bring your Visa. Pace yourself on picture taking and bring a lot of film or a lot of magnetic imaging cards if you are using digital. Everyday is significant. Bring a telephone credit card with you. The country code in Greece is 30. It’s a lot less expensive to dial direct, than it is to use the Greek telephone system. The electrical system for Greece is 220. For specific things you will need a multi-voltage converter. Camcorders & Video-recorders often have the worldwide AC Adapter charger, so you will also want to check that. Bring all of the film (at least 15 rolls) that you want to use in Greece, with you. It is fairly expensive to buy film. If your film is below ISO400, you shouldn’t have any problem with the x-ray machine. There shouldn’t be any problem for your camcorder videotape. Also, the videotapes in Greece are very expensive, so I would not suggest buying any videotape in Greece. Make sure that you have a health insurance card in case of an accident. We will have travel/accident insurance for medi-evac if needed. Travel with one bag to check thru to Athens. Hand carry a bag with a change of underclothes, any medicines that you will need, some light snacks, your camera, and any other carrying things that you want to take. You will need a wallet that you can keep next to your body for your passport, driver’s license, credit card and cash. I would suggest either a waist or neck wallet. Remember, pack light and have necessary stuff in a carry-on bag. Be sure to bring the Bible you use all the time. You will want to look up verses at various sites. Also, bring a notebook so that you can keep a journal. Remember to use the PRAYER GUIDE as you prepare for your trip. BLESS YOU ON YOUR PREPARATION. Greece will be a significant experience.
