A Day in Athens

I wandered streets 
Looking at cars
Traffic thick as thieves
It seemed each car looked for me
As I struggled to see God's side
Of life and goals and time
Buildings came and went
Aimless joy from sun and sight
We had a time to be
No answers, no pain
Just time and God
Joy in the moment
What would be was remote
Now we had the day
Coffee shared with memories
Lunch became camp
Strategy for the future
Pains and disappointments met
Reminded of the power
Jesus brings thru friends
Talking life for hours
Time well spent
I cherished every second
Relieving even now
Life is more than space and time
It stretches out thru hearts
And value given 
By a friend who cares
Sharing my dreams and goals
Knowing that heartache and failure
Are part of life
And not an indictment of me
The sun sank
I walked back
What a joy
A friend brings
On a day in Athens.
