Word Pictures #4 from Santa Fe

Little Anita's

Trader Jack’s Flea Market was a must see for us. It is located north of downtown on the Taos highway about 5 miles from town and is a typical flea market which sales jewelry, pottery, leather goods, rugs, blankets and other things. It is a real treat, once. It is similar to the flea market in the French Market. Our observation was that Trader Jack’s had a similar draw for tourists and merchants.

A trip to Santa Fe wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Little Anita’s on Cerrillos Road. The hearty helpings of New Mexican food are served with red or green chilis. They do chicken fajitas right, and they rank with the best I’ve ever had. One trip to Little Anita’s per visit isn’t enough. We went back a second time, and had pueblo pie, taco salad, and cheese enchiladas and they were just right. At the end of the meal they serve large sopapillas and honey to quench the fire in your mouth. Oh yes, for the uninitiated or infrequent visitor ask for the chilis on the side. That will save you a lot of grief. We wouldn’t go through Santa Fe without a visit to Little Anita’s.
