Santa Fe Travel Diary Alfalfas Market Psalm 138:1 says "I give thanks, O Lord, with all my heart." Vacations are journeys of the heart that nourish and refresh our souls. They create memories of freedom. They prepare us for a renewed sense of day to day faithfulness. They reinforce our awareness of the need for gratitude towards the Lord and our fellow man. One of the places in Santa Fe that I am especially grateful for is the Alfalfa Market. It is a natural food store located on West Cordova Road. I love to have breakfast on their patio. In July it isnt uncommon for the temperature to be 55 degrees at 7:30 a.m. A steaming mug of rich, dark coffee and a fresh bagel are a perfect way to watch the mountains change colors in the early morning light. Theres something special about a chilly morning in July. It creates a wonderful memory. On two separate occasions we stopped for supper. Their deli makes good sandwiches and salads. It is a place of casual friendliness and warmth. They remembered our names and made us feel like we were at home. Wow, another great memory. You have to make vacations work. Petty problems and annoyances will try to sidetrack you. Be grateful, stay focused and enjoy.
