HaKotel – The Western Wall

wwwithdome.jpg (11290 bytes)The Western Wall is one of Judaism’s most sacred sites. It is sometimes called the Wailing Wall. It is a 197-foot stretch of the 1,590-foot long western retaining wall of the Temple Mount.

Herodian stones with their worked margins, stones without worked margins, and a stone floor lie before you when you come to the Western Wall. The Western Wall Plaza is divided into two separate prayer areas. The northern two thirds of the Plaza is for men and the southern third of the Plaza is for women.

Every trip to Israel, there is a special interest in my heart for visiting the Western Wall. I go there to experience the past.

Thanks be unto God. He has visited each one of us that name the name of Jesus as Lord and Savior. He resides in all of His Shechinah Glory in the person of Jesus who lives in our heart. We don’t have to travel to distant lands or visit a place to connect with God. He is in us. His Word tells us that we are new creatures in Christ.

The Western Wall reminds me of how devoted and faithful the Lord is. His Word reminds me that if I ask Him to forgive me of my sin and come into my heart that He, the Lord, will come and reside in me. He is a faithful and trustworthy Father who comes in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
