![]() Paris Travel Diary Paris 98 Hotel Moliere
Hotel Moliere is an excellent three star hotel that was our sanctuary in Paris. The location was perfect. The staff were kind and helpful.
We were a bit ragged when we first arrived. It was confusing and rainy and the hotel staff really made the first day work. They gave us directions, suggested a place to eat, and helped us refocus for the next day. Their kindness at the beginning of our visit set the tone for our seven days of adventure.
The Moliere was two blocks from the Louvre, four blocks from the Champs Elysees, and next door to the Palais Royal. Our metro station was just two blocks from the hotel. One of the best bakeries in Paris was next door. A half-block down the street was a post office. A Mono Prix grocery store was around the corner and two blocks down the street. Our room had two twin-beds, a sofa-bed and a roomy bathroom. It was comfortable. The windows overlooked the rue Moliere and provided a good view of the activity on the street.
Breakfast in Paris is expensive in the hotels, costing about $12 per person. We made breakfast each day at the bakery next door. The fresh pastries from our boulangerie cost us about $5. They were delicious and tasted exactly like we thought fresh Parisian pastries would taste. They weren't low fat or low cal but most of the French people we saw were thin. Oh well. Two evenings we almost crawled back to the hotel after a long day of walking. Enroute to the hotel we stopped at the Mono Prix grocery store to pick up supper. With sandwiches and salads in hand we struggled the last few steps to our hotel and had a quiet meal in our room. Our mid-city hotel was a real plus. It provided us a central location in a picturesque and beautiful neighborhood.
Our daily walks will live in my mind forever. My feet will never forget. On these walks we met a lot of people and our conclusion is that there are a lot of nice and helpful folks in Paris.
