seafood dishes. Casual elegance and a reasonable price.
CAFFE! CAFFE!

Outstanding salads, fresh soups, and excellent coffee.
Lunch and dinner.
COMMANDER'S PALACE
1403 Washington Avenue
504-899-8221
Expensive and worth every penny. You need reservations
and at night the menu is expensive. Outstanding Creole
and American dishes. Order at the beginning of the meal
the bread pudding soufflé which is the best in the
entire world. Note, the luncheon menu is equally as good
as the dinner menu and half the price. Ask for the Garden
Room, which overlooks the courtyard and some lovely oaks.
COPELAND'S
701 Veterans Memorial Blvd and 4338 St. Charles Avenue (5
locations in the N.O. area)
504-831-3437 & 504-897-2325
Reasonable prices; spicy Creole, Italian and Cajun food;
good service.
CORKY'S BAR-B-Q

A full service restaurant with some of the best barbecue
in the world. They have Memphis-style ribs.
DEANIE'S SEAFOOD
1713 Lake Avenue, Metairie
504-831-4141
Prepares very good fried seafood and has a giant seafood
platter that will feed a family. Well worth the trip but
come early because the line can be long.
LA CUISINE
225 West Harrison Avenue (Lakeview)
504-486-7664
Serving Creole classics at their best. Park your diet at
the door and come on in. This is the premier, old line
New Orleans style restaurant. The food is hearty and well
served. When crab cakes or crawfish pie are on the menu
they are a must.
PALACE CAFÈ
605 Canal Street
504-523-1661
Good food and an upbeat atmosphere. Enjoyable and
friendly. A memorable experience overlooking Canal
Street. Try the white chocolate bread pudding and the
banana tart.

SANTA FE RESTAURANT
801 Frenchmen

Delivers a new kind of Mexican food that is unique,
interesting and enjoyable. The prices are moderate and
the atmosphere is definitely Southwestern.
SEMOLINA
5080 Pontchartrain Blvd
504-486-5581
Six locations in the Metro area serving pasta dishes and
other foods in a high-energy, high-flavor atmosphere. I
like the Santa Fe Pasta and there are many more equally
as good.
THE PRALINE CONNECTION
542 Frenchmen Street
504-943-3934
Soul food served in a friendly, family atmosphere. The
best pralines in the city. Try their Gumbo Zaire and
their fried chicken plate.
VENEZIA'S
134 N. Carrollton Ave
504-488-7991
Classic Italian cooking in a casual setting. Well worth
the visit just to eat the eggplant Vatican.
